Forró Jacarandá is a Brazilian forró band based in Sydney, Australia. Our name comes from the Jacarandá tree; native to Brazil, yet now an icon of Sydney, painting the city purple every spring. Just like the tree, forró itself has crossed borders and taken root somewhere new: a genre born in Brazil's Northeast that has gone on to win over dancers and listeners across Australia and the world. We started playing together as a group on 6/6/25, and since then have performed at Festa Junina celebrations and events across Sydney's forró scene. Our mission is to bring the joy of forró from Brazil to Australia; enriching Sydney's cultural life through music and dance, connecting Brazilians abroad with their roots, and introducing forró to new audiences.
