Rigger and dogger
Sets up rigging gear such as cables, ropes, pulleys and winches to lift, move and position equipment, structural steel and other heavy loads.
Falls are a leading cause of serious injury
Make sure you are trained and that fall protection is in place before you work at heights. You can refuse unsafe work.
What you do
As a dogger, you choose and check lifting gear, sling loads and direct the crane or hoist operator when they cannot see the load. As a rigger, you also use lifting equipment to move, place and secure loads, such as structural steel, hoists and safety nets. Both jobs need a high risk work licence.
